A multi-family residence was restored back into its original use as a single family home. Interior walls that blocked the natural light and the connection to the exterior where removed. Nodes of program were added to the house by raising the existing roof for an artist’s studio in an otherwise unoccupied attic, capturing space under a low eave for a grandchildren’s nook, complete redesign of an outdated kitchen, and the addition of a solarium and terraced yard for gardening and family gatherings.
