Carrie Shores, AIA, LEED-AP, CAPS

Carrie has over 10 years experience in architectural practice, having worked both in the Bay Area and on the East Coast. Carrie strives to make sustainability and design accessible to all her clients, pushing herself to continually explore new materials and design approaches.  Selected as one of Design New England’s “up and coming architects who will change New England,” Carrie founded In House Architecture + Construction in Rockland, Maine in 2003.  Within four years, the firm oversaw the design and construction of over 35 diverse projects.  In 2007, Carrie expanded her office to the Bay Area and formed Larson/Shores Architecture with Joshua Larson.  Prior to founding her own professional practice, Carrie worked for the highly regarded Santos Prescott and Associates in San Francisco, where she focused on varying project types from single family to large scale mixed-use.

Carrie has been active on numerous civic and planning bodies, having served on the Rockland Planning Board, and the Mid-Coast Magnet Board of Directors.  She chaired the Rockland Economic Development Advisory Board, and co-founded Build Green Maine, an organization that promotes sustainable practices within the built environment.  She is licensed in both California and Maine, and holds a Masters of Architecture from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Bachelor of Environmental Design from the University of Florida. Professional credentials include membership with the American Institute of Architects, certification as an Age-In-Place Specialist (CAPS) and LEED Accredited Professional (LEED-AP).

Larson Shores values the creative process and explores it through various forms of media. Examples of Carrie’s initial design process can be viewed above in her gestural collages.
